John Sterling Houser, Esq.

Associate

John Sterling Houser is an associate attorney at The Law Offices of Baldwin, Briscoe & Steinmetz, P.C.  His practice is concentrated in the firm’s civil litigation, estate administration, consumer bankruptcy, and corporate practice areas.

A St. Mary’s native with deep roots in the county, Mr. Houser attended St. Mary’s Ryken High School before attending Washington and Lee University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 2015 and his juris doctor, magna cum laude, in 2018.  While in law school he served two terms as a class representative in the university’s student government, was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society for leadership, and, at graduation, was made a member of the Order of the Coif for graduating in the top ten percent of his law school class, and won or placed in each of Washington and Lee’s moot court competitions. At graduation he received the A.H. McLeod-Ross Malone Advocacy Award, an award conferred by the law school faculty upon the graduate who showed the greatest interest and skill in the area of advocacy.

Mr. Houser’s additional legal work experience prior to Baldwin, Briscoe & Steinmetz, includes serving as a student attorney in Washington and Lee University’s Community Legal Practice Center during law school, working with the Annapolis-based firm Council, Baradel, Kosmerl & Nolan, P.A. in 2017, and clerking for the Honorable Judge David W. Densford of the St. Mary’s County Circuit Court.
