Baldwin, Briscoe, Steinmetz & Ohri Secures $250,000 Verdict

Calvert County Circuit Court

On April 9, 2019, our firm secured a $250,000 verdict in Calvert County Circuit Court. Our client was injured when she was standing on a pier and collapsed into the water. Our client claimed that she broke her foot. The defendant disputed that her foot was broken. The medical records were inconclusive.

In this case, our client had approximately $12,000 in medical bills. Utilizing a new strategy among the plaintiff’s attorneys, and after obtaining our client’s consent, we tried the case without introducing the medical bills. We also filed a motion to prevent the defendant from letting the jury know the amount of the medical bills. By excluding the bills, we were able to make our client’s pain and suffering the primary focus of the case, rather than a secondary consideration.
